Measles Update/Special Cases

There are special cases for when a child should get additional doses of MMR outside of the routine schedule:

1) Traveling outside the US
2) Children living in or traveling to areas where there is a measles outbreak. We are guided by the health department regarding the definition of an outbreak.

In these cases, children 6-11 months of age should get 1 dose of MMR. Children >12 months of age should get 1 dose (routine dose) followed by a 2nd dose 28 days later.

Outside of these special cases, PPA is still recommending routine immunizations per the CDC schedule for ALL vaccines including MMR. These vaccines are the best way to protect your children, family, and friends from vaccine-preventable illness.
